Clap Industrie: Thermocompact hits the big screen
Hundreds of middle school students discovered industrial trades in a real movie theater. An unexpected setting, an original format, and Thermocompact was part of it.
Clap Industrie: an event launched by UIMM Haute-Savoie
The concept: screen short films about industrial trades for middle school students in real movie theaters, giving them a concrete and engaging look at these professions.
No institutional speeches. Films. With energy, authenticity, and employees as the main characters of their own careers.
The event is organized by UIMM Haute-Savoie, in partnership with the Pôle Formation Haute-Savoie and hosted by the Pixpocket team, with financial support from OPCO 2i.

Thermocompact employees: both on screen and behind the camera
Thermocompact took part in the event by producing several short video formats, designed and filmed with its teams, and tailored for a young audience used to fast-paced content.
A parody of the classic science show “C’est pas sorcier” to explain electroplating
Drawing inspiration from the format of the beloved French science show, employees broke down electroplating — the electrochemical process of depositing metals onto surfaces — which is one of Thermocompact’s core areas of expertise. The result was educational, engaging, and well received by students.
The same format applied to EDM wire
The same approach was used to explain EDM wire (Electrical Discharge Machining), the wire erosion cutting technology that defines Thermocompact’s global reputation. Explaining the physics of electrical sparks and precision cutting to teenagers calls for a format that rises to the occasion.
A movie trailer to introduce the company
To introduce itself, Thermocompact chose the movie trailer format: sharp editing, a polished production, offering an honest and compelling look at the company. A deliberate choice to show that industry can hold its own when it comes to storytelling.
After the screenings: employees take the stage
Following the screenings, Anthony, Adèle, and Gaël — three employees who had appeared in the videos — took the floor in front of the students to present their jobs and answer questions.
These live exchanges went beyond the screen, addressing the day-to-day realities of their roles: the training they completed, the tasks they handle, and the career paths available. A moment of genuine dialogue that resonated with the audience.
A commitment to making industrial careers more attractive
The skills shortage in manufacturing is a well-documented challenge. Addressing it means acting early, reaching young people while they are still exploring their options, and correcting an image that no longer reflects the reality of today’s industrial careers.
Thermocompact manufactures wire erosion cutting products exported worldwide, used in demanding sectors such as aerospace, medical, and watchmaking. Participating in Clap Industrie is part of a broader commitment to showing what these careers truly look like — and to attracting the talent of tomorrow.
Three events across Haute-Savoie
Annecy-Seynod, Cluses, Annemasse: three dates, three venues, hundreds of middle school students introduced to industrial trades through a format they had never seen before.
🎬 Industry deserves to be told well. Thermocompact is making it happen.
